Intra-articular TMDs are conditions that affect structures in the jaw joint complex, such as the temporomandibular disc and articular surfaces.

Common signs and symptoms of intra-articular TMDs include:

  • Jaw noises such as clicking, clunking or grating during movement

  • Jaw locking and catching

  • Feeling like your jaw doesn’t move normally, or feeling unstable

  • +/- jaw pain or discomfort (see Mixed TMDs)
